![]() The new head fit on the arbor and is held in place by the nut included. I used a flat blade screwdriver to hold my arbor in place and used force on the old head to unscrew it. Install took about ten minutes and was very simple. ![]() Out of the several pieces in the hardware kit, I only needed one nut for my short arbor. You have to determine if your trimmer is equipped with a long or short arbor which will dictate which hardware to use for attachment. Then loaded two yellow blades opposite each other and two orange blades opposite each other then snapped the two halves of the head back together (temporarily). So for the installation: I first separated the two pieces of the head by depressing two tabs. The web site also gives a bunch of information ranging from which line trimmers this unit fits to warranty information. The instructions for assembly are printed on the back of the packing label and are also available on line. This piece came with the center head to replace your existing head, the hardware for attaching it and 8 line blades. In 20+ years, I have tried just about every gadget that attaches to the trimmer to complete the job without using the plastic string but In each case I’ve returned to the string. I have just over two acres of lawn to cut and several areas that I use a gas powered trimmer. The orange and yellow blades are easy to see as they spin so it makes delicate work fairly exact.Ĭonsidering the cost of the blades vs the cost of 250' or more of good quality trimmer line, and at best equal performance, I don't recommend this product. It also didn't appear to cut thru tough weeds, like thistle, any better than trimmer line. They are easy to replace but it seems the cost wouldn't make this a worthwhile addition for most people. The blades break and wear against certain surfaces just as fast as trimmer line does. It took a lot of maneuvering to get the blades to cut the weeds in all the bends of the siding. The blades had a difficult time trimming against the side of a steel building with the corrugated metal siding. The cut the weeds well enough but don't last any longer than, and maybe not as long as, the current heavy duty trimmer line I'm using. The performance of the soft, plastic blades is the real disappointment here. I installed this on a Stihl FS130 gas trimmer. ![]() It seems to be constructed from high quality materials and the fit was good for my application. The installation was fairly straightforward though the printed instructions could be more detailed. I appreciate that this kit is Made in the USA. It's a nice enough piece of gear, I just don't see the advantage over a good quality trimmer line upgrade kit. I don't find much that would cause me to recommend the Aero-Flex Upgrade Kit.
